A Spotlight on Michelle

At RDS, Residential Designed Solutions, we are proud of our team members! They are the reason we are so successful. We are profiling our staff so that you can get to know us better at RDS.

Name: Michelle Bush

What is your position at RDS?
I am a Construction Documentation Specialist.

What are your current job responsibilities?
The majority of my work is with site specific contracts for local builders. I help take the plans that have been created for a couple different home builders and then adjust the plans to match what the home buyer wants in their home. I go to sites and take measurements. I get to start drawings for a porch addition, or a kitchen remodel. I interact with clients, building a relationship with them. I like working in the residential field because I work with clients to help them make their house a home. I’m not working with a board of directors or an email address; I’m working with families.

When did you begin working at Residential Designed Solutions?
November 2015

Where else have you worked?
I worked in childcare for 10 years. I then decided to pursue my dream of helping design homes for people. Everyone can live in a house, but home is where the heart is.

How long have you worked in the industry?
Since November 2015

What colleges did you attend and what training have you received?
I attended Columbus State Community College. I have my Associates in Architecture and a CAD Drafting Certificate.

Where do you live?
I live in Reynoldsburg, 4 houses down from my childhood home.

What volunteer work do you do?
I help those in need when I can, even if it is only with a smile and listening ear or watching friends’ dogs because they can’t afford boarding, and other things of that nature. While I feel volunteer work to be a great thing, and necessary in the world, I feel for me I can do more good in the world with helping individually and keeping my heart open and loving. I have helped at several soup kitchens, and growing up, went on several mission trips with my church youth group. The best parts of all those trips and times volunteering were smiles on faces when I helped others and showed them that someone in the world cares about them. So while I do enjoy volunteering, I have learned that it is far better to spread those smiles on a daily basis.

What else do you want us to know about you?
I love to craft, knit, sew, paint, and make jewelry. If it’s a craft, I like to learn about it. I love cooking and baking. I’m an oddity, since I don’t mind doing things like laundry, dusting, doing dishes by hand, and vacuuming. Just don’t expect things to be put away quickly!

My husband and I love to travel to new places, everything from the Grand Canyon to a new restaurant the next town over. Justin (my husband) and I were high school sweethearts. We got married in my favorite place to vacation, Walt Disney World (EPCOT). We have been married for 4 years, but we have been together for 17 years now. I love sharing my adventures with him. Our dog (Doctor Watson) loves to go on adventures with us. I have 9 nieces and nephews; with a 10th one on the way, and being an aunt is the best and most gratifying job I have ever had. I love spending time with them and acting silly!

I have always felt like there is so much to learn about and see. Life is so short and I want to see as much of the world as I can and understand as many people as I can. But I’ve also known that right where I’m at has a lot of adventure in it too. My life can be great or it can be menial, it’s all about perspective and how I choose to look at the world around me.
