Meet the Team: Welcoming John Girimonti to RDS

What started as a childhood interest in architecture brought John Girimonti to a career helping bring homeowners' visions to life.  John brings a fresh perspective and a passion for design to Residential Designed Solutions.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, John recently made the move to Columbus after earning his Master of Architecture from Kent State University. But his interest in architecture began long before college.

Growing up, he was always drawing, building, and finding inspiration in the unique homes and architectural styles around Pittsburgh. That early curiosity eventually grew into a passion for residential design and the many details that make a house feel like home.

From the Classroom to Residential Design
During his time at Kent State, John had the opportunity to learn from professors with a wide range of professional backgrounds, making each design studio a new experience. His education also took him beyond the classroom, with opportunities to explore architecture in cities like Miami, New York, and Montreal.

One of his most memorable projects came during his final graduate semester, when he designed a sports arena and civic space along the Nashville riverfront. The project challenged him to balance creativity with the technical details necessary to bring a complex design to life. It's a skill he's excited to continue developing in his new role at RDS.

Bringing the Details Together at RDS
What initially attracted John to Residential Designed Solutions was the opportunity to be involved in the design process from beginning to end, working alongside clients, builders, and engineers to turn ideas into finished homes.

As part of the Project Detail team, he helps assemble construction documents and develop the smaller details that bring residential designs together.

And while he's still early in his career, he's already gaining a greater appreciation for everything that happens behind the scenes. Understanding how spaces connect and ensuring design elements work together, John is discovering that creating a home involves much more than what meets the eye.

That attention to detail is also reflected in his personal design preferences. Rather than focusing on one particular architectural style, John appreciates the thoughtful features that make everyday living easier, such as:

  • Built-in storage

  • Smart layouts

  • Functional spaces that don't sacrifice aesthetics

For him, one of the most rewarding aspects of residential design is its personal nature.

“Every project is completely different because the definition of home and what makes home is different to every homeowner.”

Beyond the Drawing Board
When he's not working on residential designs, there's a good chance you'll find John doing something sports related. As a dedicated Pittsburgh sports fan, he keeps every game on his calendar and spends much of his free time watching sports, playing in recreational leagues, or heading to the gym. Baseball is his favorite, and he's currently working toward an impressive personal goal: visiting all 30 Major League Baseball ballparks!

And if he ever gets the opportunity to design his own dream home? It's no surprise that a multi-sport court or field would be at the top of his wish list.

Welcome to the Team!
With a strong architectural education, an appreciation for the details, and an enthusiasm for creating spaces that feel like home, John is a welcome addition to the Residential Designed Solutions team.

We're excited to have him on board and look forward to seeing his creativity and skills continue to grow!
